Galesburg Police last Monday night observed a bicyclist near the intersection of East Main and Locusts Streets without a working headlight on the bike. Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the 48-year-old Galesburg man. The man is on supervised release, and the man immediately began emptying his pockets despite officers advising him not to. Inside a pink headphone case the man dropped on the ground were two baggies of suspected methamphetamine. When police discovered the baggies, the man took off running. He was quickly taken into custody in a backyard on East Main Street. He was arrested and refused to speak with the police. The man was charged with Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession of Meth less than 5 grams, and cited for No Bicycle headlight.
