Silver Streaks sports season pass prices could rise for 2023-24. Here is the proposal

It could cost a bit more to watch Galesburg Jr./Sr. High School athletic teams play their home games during the 2023-24 school year.

On Monday, the District 205 Board of Education will consider a proposal to increase the price of season sports passes. The agenda item for Monday’s meeting says for the last 9 years the prices for all-sports passes, girls and boys basketball passes, and football passes have remained the same price.

If the increases are approved, the All-Sports pass would rise from $75 to $100 for the season, while boys and girls basketball season passes would increase from $40 to $50 for the season.

Athletic Director Eric Matthews proposes eliminating the football season pass, noting an average of only five football passes are sold annually.

He also proposes creating a Junior High All-Sports pass for $50, noting it would be appropriate now that junior high school and high school students are in the same building.

Here are the current single-game admission prices, and number of events for high school and junior high for the 2022-23 school year:

High School Events

(GHS charges $5 for adults and $3 for children).

  • Home Football games – 8
  • Home Soccer games (G/B) – 17
  • Home Volleyball games – 11
  • Home Girls Basketball games – 33
  • Home Boys basketball games – 26
  • Home Wrestling meets – 8

Junior High School Events

(GHS charges $4 for adults and $3 children).

  • Home Football games – 7
  • Home Girls Basketball games – 13
  • Home Boys Basketball games – 12
  • Home Wrestling meets – 5
  • Home Volleyball games – 12

The June District 205 School Board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the new district office building at 940 W. Fremont St.
