Abingdon man facing charge after damaging video gambling machine

Galesburg Police on Sunday night responded to the One Stop Smoke Shop in downtown Galesburg after a regular customer became angry and damaged a gambling machine. Officers arrived and met with an employee who said one of the slot machines was covered in soda. The employee said she reviewed security footage of the incident and observed a regular customer become angry and pour soda into the bill feeder of the machine. Officers learned a few days later the machine’s screen would need to be replaced for $1,000 and the bill sorter would need to be replaced for $500. Police viewed the security video and confirmed the identity of the 61-year-old Abingdon man from previous police dealings. The man had returned to the business a few days later but had departed by the time officers arrived. The man was added to the Galesburg Police pending arrest list and is facing a charge of Criminal Damage to Property over $500.
