Galesburg Police on Sunday responded to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center for a report of a gunshot victim. Police made contact with the 45-year-old female victim. The woman had a gunshot wound above her knee with an exit wound toward the back of her calf. The woman said she was drinking alcoholic beverages with friends at Kiwanis Park and could not remember what happened. The woman would not provide any names of suspects or any other information to police. She said after she realized her leg was injured, she got into her vehicle and “fell asleep for awhile.”
A similar incident occurred in April of this year. WGIL reported that on Tuesday, April 25th, a 26-year-old woman reported she broke her leg at Kiwanis Park, but it would later be determined to be a gunshot wound. In similar fashion, the woman in that incident refused to cooperate or provide information to police.
