Galesburg woman arrested after battering ex-boyfriend’s grandmother.

Shortly after 5:00 pm on Wednesday, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Indiana Drive for a disturbance. Officers met with a 28-year-old man who said an ex-girlfriend came to his residence, uninvited, entered the residence, and battered his 71-year-old grandmother. The man and his ex have a child together. According to the man, the man’s 25-year-old ex was upset with the man’s grandmother who watches their 2-year-old child for them. According to police reports, the man’s ex-girlfriend was upset about the winter coat his grandmother bought for their daughter; and she was upset that the man’s grandmother showered with her two-year-old granddaughter. The woman pushed the man’s grandmother into a wall, striking her head, and then attempted to strike her again with a picture frame. Neither the man nor his grandmother had any visible injuries. The female suspect was still on the scene at the time and did not deny the allegations. A report was filed with DCFS for the woman leaving her 2-year-old in the car at the time during the altercation. The 25-year-old woman was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Battery to a victim over 60 years old and Criminal Trespass to Residence.
