Racial slur found spray painted on Galesburg business; police have no leads

Galesburg Police say they have no leads from a weekend incident that left a racial slur spray painted on a south side Galesburg business.

Galesburg Police responded to Skate Palace, 1855 E. Knox St., around noon Sunday in reference to someone spray painting the front of the building.

According to the police report, Michael Spinks — who operates Skate Palace — advised the responding officer that someone spray painted “Get Out N*****” on the front of the building. Spinks further advised the officer that he was not concerned with the damage and that he would paint over it, but would like the incident documented.

Galesburg Police Chief Russ Idle tells WGIL, “We have done a canvas of the area looking for witnesses or video evidence. We have no leads at this time.”
