No injuries were reported in a fire at an unoccupied home at 835 S. Chambers St. on Sunday evening.
The Galesburg Fire Department responded with all three fire stations and 11 on-duty personnel at 6:12 p.m. Sunday, arriving to find smoke coming from the windows and rear of the one-and-a-half-story residence.
Crews extinguished the fire using a hose line, secured the water supply, and conducted initial and secondary searches of the home, followed by overhaul. Off-duty personnel were called in to ensure citywide emergency coverage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Galesburg Fire and Police Departments, with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
