Galesburg’s newest restaurant featuring all-day breakfast, a full lunch and dinner menu and even a drive-thru specialty coffee window opens this week.
Two Brothers Cafe, located at 1555 E. Main St., will debut at 7 a.m. Thursday, transforming the former Pizza Hut into a family restaurant.
The cafe is owned and operated by Nik and Esmeralda Aliu, who named it after their sons, Leo and Betim. The couple previously operated Maple City Restaurant in downtown Monmouth.
Two Brothers will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays.
The menu is designed to serve all times of the day, featuring all-day breakfast with eggs, pancakes, waffles, skillets, and biscuits and gravy. Lunch and dinner options include burgers, fish, chicken, steaks, daily specials, and weekend ribs, complemented by homemade soups and a salad bar.
A full-service bar and drive-thru specialty coffee window will be available, and Aliu said he eventually will add gaming terminals.
The interior has undergone a complete makeover, featuring a new kitchen and dining area.
Nik Aliu said, “I’m really excited. Stressed, but mostly excited. We have everything ready, and we’ll be good to go Thursday morning. It’s been more than I thought it was going to be. I thought we’d be open in March, but we did a lot of extra things, so we got delayed.”
The opening follows a WGIL story from October 2024 announcing the cafe’s early 2025 plans.
Built as a Pizza Hut in 1975, the 1555 E. Main St. pizza restaurant permanently closed closed Dec. 5, 2023.
