Eastbound I-74 closed in Knox County for emergency bridge repairs — detour in effect

Drivers heading east on Interstate 74 through Knox County tonight are facing a closure after the Illinois Department of Transportation announced emergency pavement repairs to the bridge deck over the Spoon River.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, eastbound I-74 toward Peoria is closed at Exit 54. Traffic is being rerouted to U.S. Highway 150 East and Illinois Route 97.

IDOT says the repairs are anticipated to be completed and the interstate reopened by April 22, weather permitting. Drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through the area.
