Officers arrested two Galesburg residents and a Dahinda man today after responding to complaints of an early morning meth cook.
According to police reports, 48-year-old Kimberly Howerton and her ex-husband, 41-year-old Danny Howerton were arrested around 3:30 a.m. today in their Grove Street home along with 40-year-old Joseph Bayless.
At the residence, police noted a strong chemical smell coming from the building.
Six people inside were all asked to exit the building and officers from the Peoria Multi-County Narcotics Enforcement Group and the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team were called to the scene.
Kimberly Howerton gave police consent to search the home where a quantity of finished methamphetamine was found alongside meth manufacturing materials.
Officers exited the home after finding a hydrochloric gas generator, which can be extremely toxic.
The device was disassembled before proceeding with the investigation.
All three arrested parties were charged with unlawful production of between 100 and 400 grams of meth. Should the State’s Attorney proceed with charges, the trio could face up to 30 years in prison.
