The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team fell against the Sterling Golden Warriors Tuesday night at Sterling, 67-64.
It was a night that saw the Streaks fall by 17 in the third quarter, then rally all the way back to take their first lead of the game, 64-63, on an Easton Steck three-pointer with 45 seconds left to go in the game. But, the lead only lasted briefly, thanks to a Sterling layup and a couple free-throws to secure the win. An Eric Price three-pointer that would have sent the game into overtime was off the mark.
The Streaks dropped their third game in the last four, to fall to 6-3 on the season overall and in the Western Big 6 Conference, while Sterling improves to 5-7 overall, and 3-6 in conference play.
Price led the way with 17. Jeremiah Babers had his varsity career high of 13. Dre Egipciaco had 12. Steck, off the bench in the second half, had nine points. All of his varsity points this season came in this game, including eight in the fourth quarter. That three-pointer giving the Streaks the brief lead, gave Steck our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game honor.
The Streaks have another tough road game Friday night at Quincy. You can hear the game starting at 7:06pm on WGIL.
