Ashley Worby: Meet Knox County’s new state’s attorney

Ashley Worby ran unopposed as the Republican candidate for Knox County State's Attorney in Tuesday's General Election, and she will assume the office on Dec. 2.

A native of Michigan, Worby and her husband Kyle have worked and resided in Knox County for more than 10 years. She's worked in various capacities in the Knox County State's Attorney office since 2019.

Worby joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about her new role. She talks about the challenges of the office, including carrying out the The Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today Act, commonly known as the SAFE-T Act.

Worby also discusses her goal of improving communication with all the agencies her office works with, something she says has been an issue in the past. And she talks about how she will deal with the serious issues of gun violence and illegal drug sales.
