Stone-Hayes Center for Independent Living is a non-residential, non-profit agency that helps people with disabilities achieve greater independence within their communities. The center provides a range of free services, including assistance with hiring personal assistants, advocacy for students, help with housing applications, peer support, and life skills training.
SHCIL's goal is to empower people with disabilities to make their own decisions and advocate for themselves. They believe that everyone has the right to be included in their community and live as independently as possible.
Sarah Nelson, community reintegration coordinator with Stone-Hayes Center for Independent Living, joined WGIL's Tyler Gumm and Jay Redfern on Galesburg's Morning News to talk about all the services they offer.
