Theresa Bivens, 85, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at 5:05 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2025. Theresa was born October 14, 1939, in Galesburg, the daughter of Jake and Elizabeth (Matto) Glasnovich. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg. Theresa married William “Bill” Bivens on February 17, 1962 in Galesburg.
Theresa is survived by her three sons: Phillip of Newburgh, IN, Patrick (Lynn) of Bartonville, IL, John (Lynne) of Yorkville, IL; eight grandchildren: Kayla, Marcus, Samantha (Trey) Rock, Stephanie (Sean) Halsey, Alyssa, Jacob, Nicholas, and Matthew Bivens; and one great granddaughter, Amelia Rock. Also surviving are two brothers: Phillip (Pat) Glasnovich of Abingdon, IL, and John (JeanAnn) Glasnovich of Rio, IL; and five sisters-in-law: Shirley of TN, Pat of FL, Linda, Sara, and Paula, all of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers: Joe, Nick, Mike, Bill, Steve, and David Glasnovich; five sisters (four brothers-in-law): Ceceilia Glasnovich, Mary (Bill) McMahon, Susie (Danny) Howard, Tedie (John) Maxwell, Anna (David) Skrzelowski; and one sister-in-law, Linda Glasnovich.
Theresa was a devout Catholic who dedicated her life to her family and faith. Her greatest joy in life was the role she cherished most, being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has touched countless lives, and her love and kindness will be dearly missed.
Memorial mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg. Father Jeffrey Stirniman will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Ostomy Associations of America.
