Donna R. “Donnie” (Riggs) Peterson, 89, of Knoxville, Illinois, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025, after a short stay at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, Illinois.
Donna was born on June 26, 1936, in Anselmo, Nebraska, the daughter of Alfred and Maxine (Williams) Riggs. She graduated from Galesburg High School, the class of 1954. Donna married Kenneth “Bud” Peterson on August 14, 1955.
Donna worked at Burgland Youth Fashions for over 25 years. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. Donna loved her knitting, creating crafts, NASCAR, basketball and was on a bowling League for several years. Donna enjoyed meeting with her special friends from her coffee group.
She is survived by one sister, Carrie Jo Doxsee of Silvis, Illinois; two sister-in-law’s, Kay Peterson of Galesburg, Illinois and Brenda Riggs of Branson, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She is reunited with her husband “Bud” Peterson, her parents, sister, Helen Ann, brother, Tom Riggs.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. A fellowship will be held at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center for friends and relatives beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025.
