Donald E. Stroud, 79, of Knoxville, Illinois, formerly of Woodhull, died Friday, March 13, 2026 at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family burial will be at a later date.
Don was born on January 12, 1947 in Galesburg, Illinois to Marion and Norma Tucker Stroud. He graduated from AlWood High School and served in the United States Army. Don married Evelyn McCulloch on July 24, 1976 at First Lutheran Church of Galesburg, Illinois. They were married for 47 years before her passing on November 28, 2023. Together, Evelyn and Don raised and showed horses. He was also employed at Maytag for many years.
Those left to cherish Don’s memory include his sister, Vickie (Al) Hayden of Dahinda, Illinois; nieces, Heather (Andy) Galbreath of Galesburg and Amy (Pete) Spencer of Edmond, Oklahoma; four great nieces and nephews: Hayden and Aubrey Galbreath, and Eileen and Elliot Spencer; brother-in-law, David (Tami) McCulloch of Galesburg; and nephew, John McCulloch of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents; and brother, Terry Stroud.
