Judy’s Family Cafe is back.
The iconic North Broad Street breakfast destination reopened Thursday morning after nearly two months of renovations, welcoming guests into a freshly transformed space at 1195 N. Broad St. in Galesburg.
The cafe closed March 11 for a top-to-bottom overhaul — new floors, new walls, new counters, and fully renovated bathrooms. Owner Judy Wang was all smiles Thursday morning as customers returned.
“The bathroom is new. The floor is new. All new walls. Come on in,” Wang said.
The exterior was fully repainted, and pergolas are being added along the Fremont Street side for outdoor seating. Seating capacity grew from roughly 70 to approximately 82 seats, with additional capacity coming from the expanded outdoor patio once it is complete.
Victor Dantas, co-owner of Judy’s Family Brands and Judy’s pancake mix, said the patio and the signature pancake stack on top of the building are scheduled to be finished in the next 30 days, but the rest of the renovation is complete.
“We love how it turned out,” Dantas said.
Hours at both locations
Judy’s Family Cafe at 1195 N. Broad St. is open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, serving breakfast.
Judy’s Kitchen at 51 N. Prairie St. in downtown Galesburg is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
A big week for Judy’s

The reopening caps a busy week for the brand. On Tuesday, a ribbon was cut on a brand new interactive play space at the Discovery Depot Children’s Museum inspired by Judy’s Family Cafe. Called “Little Judy’s,” the exhibit lets kids experience what it feels like to run the cafe — taking orders, working in the kitchen, and jumping into the action themselves.
Judy’s went viral in August 2024. Since then, the brand has accumulated close to one million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook combined, with total views surpassing one billion.
