Building the future: Construction continues on new Soangetaha clubhouse

The historic clubhouse at Soangetaha Country has been demolished, and construction is well under way on a smaller yet more modern facility.

A new 6,800 square foot clubhouse is expected open for members by Memorial Day as Soangetaha Country Club celebrates its 130th anniversary in 2025.

Dr. Peter Kehoe, president of Soangetaha Country Club, and immediate past president Scott Baldwin joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to discuss the project.

They share insights on the demolition process, which began on Sept. 25, and provide updates on the current construction progress and timeline. Kehoe and Baldwin explore the vision for the new clubhouse, including decisions still being made about its interior design and key features that members can look forward to.

The Soangetaha officials also discuss how club members are staying engaged during construction and their plans for retaining and attracting new members in the future.

Soangetaha is currently booking private events, and also welcomes new members. For inquiries, reach out to manager@soangetaha.com.
