Knox County Clerk Scott Erickson has been at the forefront of a national initiative that may seem like old hat to you and me, but not to some local levels of government.
He's been part of a pilot program allowing for "digital disbursements" of county money -- for example, paying jurors and election judges electronically in a direct deposit-like fashion, much like at your job possibly.
You might be surprised to learn that county government didn't do this until now. Erickson talks about the effort, and about election security, with Will Stevenson on Galesburg's Morning News.
