GHS Girls Continue Perfect Season with Win before Holiday Break

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team continued their perfect season on Thursday (12/21) night with a win over the Pekin Dragons, 37-29. The Streaks struggled early without Kiarra Kilgore in the lineup due to injury as they only scored 5 points in the first quarter; however, the Streaks took control in the second by shutting out Pekin heading into the half. The Streaks controlled the rest of the game to continue their undefeated season heading into the holidays. The Streaks are now 14-0.

Junior Alexis Edgerson was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. She had a crucial three in the third quarter and went 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth. She finished with 13 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

The Streaks will be back in action next week after Christmas to start the Mattoon Holiday Tournament on Wednesday (12/28). The girls will play Teutopolis for the first time in school history. Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson will bring you the action starting with the pregame at 2:40 PM on 93.7 FM & 1400 AM WGIL, as well as streaming on wgil.com. GHS Girls vs Pekin
