Meet Galesburg’s Kelvin Hawthorne, future meteorologist

The Galesburg area has produced some meteorologists over the years -- some on television, some who work behind the scenes at places like the National Weather Service.

Kelvin Hawthorne is going into his senior year at Northern Illinois University, studying both geography and meteorology, and was an intern over the summer at the NWS office in the Quad Cities.  Among other things, Hawthorne was on duty during the July derecho that moved across Iowa and Illinois.

Hawthorne talks about weather and his experiences, and why you shouldn't believe some social media weather reports, with Will Stevenson on Galesburg's Morning News.
