Tip-off Time: Galesburg girls basketball ready to get the season started

For the first time in 46 years, Galesburg will have a coach not named Evan Massey on the bench when the Silver Streaks tip off their girls basketball season.

Lexi Daniels-Demott, a former Silver Streaks player and for the last four years an assistant coach under the legendary Massey, is the new head coach of the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball program.

The new-look Streaks open the 2024-25 season tonight by hosting Peoria Richwoods in the Galesburg Thanksgiving Shootout in John Thiel Gym. You can hear that game right here on WGIL and wgil.com, with the pre-game around 6:45 p.m. and tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.

Lexi Demott joined WGIL's Jay Redfern and Tyler Gumm on Galesburg's Morning News to preview the season.
