Rauner complies with order to release more detailed calendar

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner’s office has released more complete daily appointment calendars in response to an attorney general’s opinion that the administration was keeping too much of it secret.

Rauner lawyer Don Tracy on Friday disclosed copies of Rauner’s schedule for the first half of 2015.

A comparison of the calendars — from the first half of 2015 — to those originally supplied to The Associated Press last year reveals few changes. The administration had previously blacked out budget-preparation meetings and the names of applicants hired for government jobs.

The attorney general ruled in September. But Tracy blamed the delayed release on a lawsuit over the records by staff writer Bruce Rushton of the Illinois Times.

Rushton says the lawsuit will continue because the government should pay the newspaper’s legal fees.
