Galesburg, Knox County and much of Illinois saw snow accumulate for the first time this year.

The National Weather Service office in Lincoln reported that Galesburg received roughly five to six inches, Sunday. The unofficial totals were reported shortly after 2 p.m. Official totals have not yet been released.

On NWS’ verified social media accounts, officials called for much of the snow to subside by the mid-afternoon, which was the case.

No major vehicle crashes were reported by authorities.

The city of Galesburg enacted a snow emergency at noon to remove all vehicles from city streets so that plows could clean the roadways. The emergency is expected to be lifted at 11 p.m.

Plows could be seen throughout the city and county. Plenty of snow can be seen covering yards, trees and buildings, as well.
