Mrs. Louise C. Johansen, 93, of Decatur, Illinois died at 2:08 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.She was born on January 31, 1923 in Knox County, Illinois to Earl and Rosie Schwartz Shay.   She married Don W. Johansen on April 28, 1948 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2013.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary (and Steve) Skelton of Mt. Zion, Illinois; a son David; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and one great granddaughter.

She had worked always as a fantastic chef at Golden Cream Dairy, the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Knox College, in the Hill Arcade and for Community Unit School District #205, retiring in 1984.

Louise was a 1941 graduate of the Wataga (IL) High School. She was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg, during this time she was active in numerous church activities including teaching Sunday school and making quilts. Louise had many talents during her life, making wedding cakes, sewing, knitting, restoring and dressing antique dolls, she had an incredible green thumb in the garden.

Because of Louise’s illness she forgot many people and different events in her life, but every day she would sing Jesus Loves Me, she never forgot the Lord.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Frank Langholf officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Henderson (IL) Cemetery.
