David Kent Champion, 65, of Kingsford, Michigan, formerly of Galesburg, died suddenly on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at home.He was born July 29, 1952, in Galesburg, the son of Richard K. and Mary Lou (Lacy) Champion.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Champion of Galesburg; his long-time partner, Peggy Roberts of Kingsford; a sister, Jane Louise Champion of Port Townsend, Washington, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

David was raised and educated in Galesburg, attending Galesburg High School.   He was baptized in the First United Methodist Church. He worked for several years at Butler Manufacturing Company.

David’s true talent and passion was music. He played guitar and bass guitar in several bands for many years and continued to play and enjoy music throughout his lifetime. He had a vibrant interest in the world and current events and he loved to cook and explore new recipes.

Private visitation and graveside services will be held at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel and Knoxville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
