A section of Brooks Street is closing today for reconstruction, weather permitting.

Brooks from Whitesboro to Locust was closed at 7 a.m. Monday and should be closed for about 3 weeks.

This only is a single block but its part of a larger reconstruction that’s been ongoing, replacing the roadway on Brooks, all the way from Lombard to Oak Street.

City Council approved the bid for Laverdiere Construction, out of Macomb, at their meeting on June 4 for a little over $1 million.

Council documents says that existing street base and concrete gutter will be replaced with a full depth concrete pavement and concrete curb and gutter.

Also included in the deal were new driveway approaches for properties as well as sidewalk replacement.

Already the intersection of Brooks and Lombard streets has been repaired and a water main’s been replaced on Oak Street just off of Brooks.
