Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. Sterling Golden Warriors

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team led throughout the first half and partway through the 3rd quarter Tuesday night.  But, the Sterling Golden Warriors slowly fought their way back into it, taking the lead halfway through the fourth quarter, and defeating the Streaks 50-41.

The Streaks were outscored 35-12 in the second half, after leading 29-15 at halftime, and just couldn’t get shots to fall in the second half.  They ended up only 16 for 50 from the field, and 2 for 16 from behind the arc — 0 for 10 from behind the three point line in the second half.  The Streaks were playing without their point guard, Riley Jenkins, who was out with a knee injury.

Lauren Livingston led the way for the  Streaks with 12 points and five rebounds.  All 12 of her points came in the first half.

Audree Peck had 10 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, a steal, and an assist.  She was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the GameAbby Davidson had nine points and five rebounds.  Kirra Kilgore had four points and six rebounds.  They were just five for 14 from the three-point line.

The Borum sisters led the way for Sterling — Brooke with 18 points and 18 rebounds, Bree with 15 points.  Hailey Walters had 12 points.

Galesburg is now 9-3 on the season, and 6-3 in the Western Big 6 Conference.  They play a varsity-only non-conference game Thursday night against Orion.  You can hear that game starting at 5:40pm on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL.
