Monmouth woman wanted by police after stealing flowers from Hy-Vee

On Sunday, May 2nd, Galesburg Police were dispatched to Hy-Vee on East Main Street in Galesburg for a theft that had just occurred. According to police reports, a 47-year old Monmouth woman was hanging around the grocer’s garden center before it had opened for the day. Just after 8:00 am, the woman loaded up over $200 worth of flowers into a shopping cart and began placing them in a pickup truck. When approached by employees the woman said she had paid for the flowers inside. The woman even left behind several containers of flowers in the shopping cart before departing. Hy-Vee management and Galesburg Police reviewed security footage that never showed the woman enter the store and employees were able to take down the vehicle’s registration. GPD made several attempts to contact the woman once she was identified with negative results. Monmouth PD located the woman and instructed her to contact GPD. The woman has been placed on the department’s pending list facing Retail Theft charges. She has until May 6th to contact Galesburg Police before a warrant for her arrest is issued.
