Gary LaDuke of Bloomington CA (formerly of Oneida, IL) passed away on September 27, 2021, at his home.
Gary was born August 3, 1947, to Franklin and Martha Helen (Lingwall) LaDuke in Galesburg, IL. He grew up in Oneida and graduated from ROVA High School in 1965.
He attended BlackHawk College and Devry Institute in Chicago.
Gary moved to CA in his early 20’s and attended college in Long Beach attaining a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the SafeTran Company for many years until his eyesight deteriorated.
At a very young age, Gary earned his Ham Radio license and with his interest in radios, he built his own radio system to talk with people worldwide.
Gary’s other interests included playing guitars and listening to country music especially by Merle Haggard.
Surviving are brothers Jim (Pat) LaDuke Galesburg, IL and Ron (Nancy) LaDuke Oneida, IL, four nephews & nieces, and several cousins, along with a “whole family” of Ham Radio operators from across the world.
Special thanks go out to those ham operators who met up with us at Gary’s house, Jon, Hart, & David. Also, Gary had several neighbors who helped and watched over him in his later years.
Memorials can be made in Gary LaDuke’s name to a charity of donor’s choice.
