Two East Galesburg men are facing felony charges from an incident that started with a tip of a stolen Chevy Equinox.

Knox County Deputies on Wednesday located the Equinox on the 100 block of Miller Ave in East Galesburg.

They knocked on the door and spoke with the home’s owner who identified 19-year-old Dante Quick as the driver of the Equinox.

But Quick had no intentions of speaking with the police.

Deputies noticed Quick running from the back door of the residence.
By the way, another 22-year-old East Galesburg man was arrested at Miller Ave. residence for an FTA warrant on a charge of aggravated battery.

Just a short time later a deputy observed Dante Quick attempt to steal another vehicle before he ran to a home on the 600 block of Blaze Rd.

Police couldn’t convince Quick to give himself up, so with permission from the home’s owner, a team of Deputies, Galesburg Police, the FBI TOC West Taskforce entered the home.

Quick was hiding in a bedroom closet and surrendered without further incident.

The 19-year-old is facing charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting, criminal trespass to residence, and trespass to a motor vehicle.

Quick already is already headed towards a trial on criminal damage to property charges from earlier this year.
