Lighting up East Galesburg for the holidays. Corbin’s Light Show returns after fire

Starting tonight, it will begin to look a lot like Christmas in the village of East Galesburg.

Corbin’s Light Show — featuring thousands of lights, dozens of holiday displays and even an occasional appearance from Santa Claus — returns Thursday (Dec. 1) and runs through Dec. 31 at the home of Darrell and Sandi Corbin, 104 Indiana Ave. in East Galesburg. The light show can be viewed nightly from 5 to 10 p.m.

The Corbins started offering the holiday light show in 2013, but missed last year when their home and many of their holiday displays were destroyed in a January 2021 fire.

Santa Claus will visit the Corbin’s shed from 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through Christmas and is available for photos with children. Visitors are asked to bring their own camera.

The Corbins accept non-perishable food items or monetary donations, all of which are distributed to FISH Food Pantry in Galesburg.

The Corbins’ daughter Brandi tells WGIL, “It’s still going to be a good light show. We lost a lot in the fire, but we’re slowly building back and we have quite a bit for this year. To me, what my parents have built is magical. Seeing the faces of the kids light up just warms you up.”
