He wasn’t impaired.
That’s the word from Kewanee Police after the crash Tuesday of what they call a semi into at least two homes.
Police say Albert Greene, 56, of the Chicago suburb of Crete voluntarily provided his medical records and a statement to police after he was taken to a Peoria hospital.
They say Greene wasn’t under the influence of anything, nor did he suffer a medical emergency.
The crash happened Tuesday afternoon, and police say the semi Greene was driving for a company called WinSupply ran through the yard of one home, struck the foundation and some siding of a second home, and came to rest inside a third home that has since been demolished — all on a part of Second Street in Kewanee that’s also U.S. 34.
WinSupply, police say, turned over dash and cab camera video.
It was determined that the main factors in the crash were speed and an unfamiliarity in the area.
Greene has been ticketed for speeding 46 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone, disobeying a stop sign, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
He’s still hospitalized in stable condition.
