Mary A. Davis, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed peacefully with her family by her side at 4 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026.
Mary was born July 14, 1947, in Galesburg, the daughter of Kenneth and Lila (Dorothy) Hannen. After graduating from Galesburg High School, Mary attended and graduated from Young Beauty Academy. She married Gregory C. Davis on June 6, 1974, in Moline, Illinois. Mary went on to earn her real estate license in 1985.
Mary owned and operated two beauty salons, The Comb and later Elegant Images, before embarking on her real estate career. She began working at Coldwell Banker, later Century 21. Mary and Greg purchased and became co-owners of Century 21 Tucker Swanson, operating for many years before selling and retiring in 2017. Greg preceded Mary in death on February 27, 2021.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Amy (Shane) Simpson of Crawfordsville, Iowa, and Alicia (Mike Pepple) Condreay of Galesburg; one son, Brad (Marcy) Davis of Galesburg; her beloved seven grandchildren, Brett, Stephanie, and Makenna Simpson, Alexa (Anthony) Bullard, Adyson Eastburg, and Braden and Benton Davis; and her adored great-granddaughter, Lillyann.
Family was always first and foremost for Mary. She loved being surrounded by her children and later grandchildren. She spoiled them all, loving every minute of it. She was devoted to attending all their events throughout the years. Mary had a keen eye for homes and decorating, which contributed to her being one of the top real estate agents in the area. She loved spending time outdoors in the sunshine and the many years she and Greg spent as snowbirds in Naples, Florida.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
