Robert L. Hroziencik, age 71, of rural Oneida, Illinois, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
Robert was born on June 20, 1954, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Robert Leroy and Normalee (Boyer) Hroziencik. He attended and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972 and later attended Carl Sandburg College. On July 15, 1978, he married Nancy Rylander at the Congregational Church in Galesburg, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy of rural Oneida, Illinois; two children: Catherine “Kate” (Mike) Hagedorn of Rio, Illinois, and Kevin (Tara) Hroziencik of Oneida, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Wyatt, Owen, Olivia, and Graham Hagedorn and Jack, Jake, and Anna Hroziencik; his mother, Normalee of Knoxville, Illinois; one sister, Rhonda Polite of Galesburg, Illinois and one brother, Randy (Debbie) Hroziencik of Galesburg, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brother-in-law, Frank Polite.
Robert worked for BNSF Railroad as a Hostler for 34 years. He was a member of Little John Conservation Club in rural Victoria, Illinois, where he enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed working in his apple orchard, frequenting local auctions, collecting antiques and old farm equipment, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Robert was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan, who loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a short service at 3 p.m. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. His brother, Rev. Randy Hroziencik will officiate. Memorials may be made to Little John Conservation Club.
