Mary L. Johnson, 52, of Galesburg, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at home.
She was born June 23, 1963 in Galesburg, the daughter of Donald and Joan (Mahnesmith) Varnold. She married Monte Soper in 1983 and Billy Johnson in 1995.
She is survived by her long-time fiancé, Lee Brock; a daughter, Karissa (and Philip Scott) Soper of Galesburg; three stepchildren, Nicole Brock, Mike Brock, and Jeff Brock, all of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Cash Scott and Taylor, Elijah, and Haily Brock; a brother, Richard D. (and Debbie) Varnold of Galesburg; two sisters, Sue Bracken of Galesburg and Pam Bell of Prairie City; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was an executive housekeeper at Holiday Inn Express for the past 14 years. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Cash, who was her pride and joy.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Wataga Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
