A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Thursday on the southwest side of Galesburg near the city limits. An exact location is not being disclosed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Police and first responders were able to locate the individual and they were immediately evaluated.
Life saving measures were attempted by GHAS and Galesburg Fire, and while GHAS transported the individual to OSF St. Mary’s Emergency Room, the victim was pronounced deceased later.
Currently, the identification of the victim is not being released.
