Galesburg man killed in US 150 crash involving oversized load

U.S. Highway 150 in Knox County reopened in both directions Tuesday afternoon after a fatal two-vehicle crash earlier in the day, with the victim identified as a 63-year-old Galesburg man, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner Jacque Dare.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:32 a.m. in the 1300 block of US 150, about 11 miles east of Galesburg, involving an oversized load and a passenger vehicle.

Coroner Dare told WGIL that the driver of a compact car, a 63-year-old male from Galesburg, was pronounced dead at the scene, though the victim’s name is currently not being released. Illinois State Police Troop 4 is investigating the crash, which led to a closure between 1250 E. and Knox County Highway 12 until approximately 4:05 p.m.
