Kathyrn Marie Cooper

Mrs. Kathyrn Marie Cooper, 78, formerly of Granville, Ohio, passed away at 9 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Allure of Lake Storey.

She was born August 15, 1947, in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of Paul Thomas and Phyllis Irene (Dyer) Huston. She married William “Bill” Carl Cooper on February 13, 1974, in Newark. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2024.

Kathyrn graduated from Newark High School Class of 1965 and later went on to work for and retire from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a civil contractor in Greene County, Ohio. She and Bill never had children of their own but adopted and raised many fur babies together.

In addition to spending time with her dogs, she enjoyed traveling and shopping. There wasn’t a shoe she didn’t own. Kathryn moved to Galesburg in 2019.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dee Paul whom she was very close with; her niece, Christy (Scott Kamien) Paul, her great niece, Cassie (Jack) Briggs and her nephew Carson (McKenzie) Kamien all of Florida. She also has many cousins and other family in Ohio and Illinois.

Thank you to her dear friends, Linda Yeakel of Decatur, Illinois and Lisa Reynolds of Galesburg for keeping in close contact in recent years and checking in on her following Bill’s passing in 2024. Kathyrn was also survived by her close relation and caregiver for many years, Carissa and her husband Eric Littlefield of Galesburg.

Kathryn fought a long battle with Parkinson’s and was involved in the Parkinson’s community.

She was a member of the National Speech Organization Toastmasters International.

Kathryn’s wishes were for cremation. A Celebration of Kathryn and Bill’s life will be held late spring early summer in Newark, OH. Memorials may be offered to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting her family with arrangements.
