What began as a rubbish fire escalated into a full structure fire Tuesday afternoon at a Galesburg home.
At 2:41 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a report of a rubbish fire near the rear of a residence at 578 Holton St. Crews from Brooks Street and Central Station responded initially, arriving to find flames coming from three sides of the building with active fire throughout the first-floor interior.
No occupants or pets were found inside the structure, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Galesburg Fire Department investigators.
