The Knoxville City Council will meet tonight with every councilman’s seat filled for the first time in a couple of years.

At the January 6th council meeting, Kristina Hope was selected by Mayor Dennis Maurer and appointed as Ward 2 Alderman.
Hope will lead the Sanitation Committee.

Some old business that the council addressed at their last meeting: it was discovered that in regards to electronics pick-up in Knoxville, the City charges a $10 tag for large electronics to be disposed of.

Eagle Enterprises is the current recycling provider and charges 40 cents per pound.

The City loses money when large, console TV sets are disposed of.
A separate fee of $40 and a tag will be created for television disposal.

At their last meeting, Alderman Charlie Gruner also reported that the sewer lining project in Knoxville had been completed.

Tonight, the council will discuss the purchase of a new sanitation truck with the current 2001 International truck sitting in disrepair.

The council will also discuss replacing a 2013 Ford Explorer police vehicle which has also proved less cost-effective to repair.

The meeting gets underway tonight at 7:00 pm at the Knoxville Police Station.
