One individual was injured in a semi-trailer-involved two-vehicle accident in rural Fulton County Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police say that a Mack Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer being driven by 20-year-old Ian S. Olson of Cameron was traveling south on US Route 24 in Waterford Township as it approached slowed traffic.

The second vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Devan M. Carpenter of Lewistown was two vehicles ahead of the semi-trailer as it began to turn left onto Rut Road, south of Lewistown.

According to a preliminary investigation of the crash, Olson failed to stop in time for slowed traffic and crossed the centerline, striking Carpenter’s truck on the driver’s side. The vehicle between the two was uninvolved in the crash.

State police say that Carpenter was transported to an area hospital and describe his injuries as non-life-threatening. Olson was uninjured.

Olson was cited for the crash with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
