18-year Galesburg man arrested for recent area shootings, child abduction

An 18-year-old Galesburg man has been arrested for several warrants related to recent shooting incidents in Galesburg and child abduction.

Nathan E. Cantu is facing five charges overall currently, four for aggravated discharge of a firearm and the one for child abduction.

The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office obtained a search warrant on Wednesday at  755 W. Berrien Street for the purpose of locating Cantu.

He was located and arrested without incident by the  Galesburg Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s office with the assistance of the State’s Attorney’s office.

The warrant was executed by the Galesburg Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s office with the assistance of the Knox County State’s Attorney’s office.  Nathan E. Cantu was located and arrested without incident.

Police say that the minor child related to the child abduction charge was found there in good health and was turned over to DCFS.

The release announcing Cantu’s arrest indicates that his arrest was possibly a result of the work of the task force formed earlier this among law enforcement in Galesburg and Knox County along with Illinois State Police and the FBI.
