A pair of local colleges received some national recognition after being named to Money magazine’s list of “2023 Best Colleges.”
2,400 colleges and universities were evaluated on a number of criteria and both Knox and Monmouth colleges received the recognition.
The rankings are based on a school’s affordability, quality, and student outcomes. The recognition was given to only about 700 four-year schools.
Other area schools that received the recognition include Bradley in Peoria and Augustana in Rock Island.
Many of the prestigious schools you’d think of made the list, including Brown, Cornell, Duke, and Harvard.
Several state schools made the list as well, including the University of Illinois, Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and Illinois State University.
While many schools are beginning to welcome back students, Knox is still about a month away. New Student Orientation is on September 7, with classes beginning on September 11.
Monmouth is preparing to welcome members of the Class of 2027 and the rest of its returning students to campus this weekend. Class begins for Monmouth College Students on August 23.
