A man was found dead Friday after barricading himself inside a Good Hope home and setting it on fire, according to the Illinois State Police.
On May 8, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department received a call for a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Monmouth St. in Good Hope. Officers arriving at the scene located a woman with severe injuries who had exited the residence.
The man then barricaded himself inside the home and set it on fire. The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from ISP Troop 4, the Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4, SWAT, and a Crisis Negotiation Team.
SWAT entered the home and found the man deceased.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
