Sue Ryder, age 64, of Oneida, Illinois, died at 6:27 P.M. on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on May 18, 1954 in rural Oneida, the daughter of Albert “Elgin” and Lois R. (Head) Ferguson. She was reared and educated in the Knox County area and graduated from Galesburg High School. On March 10, 1990, Sue was married to James Ryder in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sue is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years, James Ryder of Oneida; two step-children: Sherry (and Sean) Godsil, Jake Andrew (and Cali) Ryder, both of Holland, Iowa; her parents-in-law: Donald (and Beverly) Phillipi of Leesburg, Florida; two siblings: Jesse (and Darlene) Ferguson of Knoxville, Illinois, Jason (and Amy) Ferguson of Wataga, Illinois; special friend, Mike Rogers of North Henderson, Illinois; and her beloved dogs: Nashville, Rockingham, and Milwaukee Mile. She was preceded in death by her parents. She worked at the Galesburg Flower Company for a time, and was co-owner of Oneida Repair with her husband. Crafting was a pastime that she greatly enjoyed, including embroidery, quilting, and especially primitive crafts. She also loved going to auctions and flea markets. Sue was a dedicated member of the I Love to Quilt Club in Alexis, Illinois, as well as the Knox County Home Extension, and the Friends of the Craig Memorial Library in Oneida. She loved spending time with her loved ones and her cherished dogs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held directly following the visitation at 4:00 P.M., Rev. David H. Pyell officiating. Cremation rites will then be accorded. Inurnment will take place at the Ontario Cemetery in rural Oneida, Illinois on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Craig Memorial Library of Oneida.
